Bhopal: The amount of research scholarship for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students in higher education in Madhya Pradesh has been enhanced from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 8,000. The distribution of the scholarship at increased rate has already begun.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced the increase in this scholarship at Adivasi and Anusuchit Jati Panchayat held at his residence.
However, if a student has been selected for any other scholarship of the state government he or she would be entitled for only one scholarship. The research scholarship was introduced in year 2003-04. The amount has been increased with effect from November 2007.
The research scholarship at enhanced rate has been sanctioned to four Scheduled Caste students in art faculty, eight in social science faculty, six in science faculty, four in bio-science faculty and one in commerce faculty. A total of Rs. 16.61 lakh has been sanctioned.
Similarly, four Scheduled Tribe students have been sanctioned the scholarship in art faculty and one each in social science and science faculties. An amount of Rs. 4.55 lakh has been sanctioned for them. ([email protected])
