Tehran : Iran is ready to discuss with the West any issue except suspension of its uranium enrichment activities, an important member of the country’s parliament has said.

Hamid-Reza Haji-Babaei was quoted by official IRNA news agency as telling reporters Wednesday on the sideline of the parliament session that enrichment activities are the country’s sovereign right, which would not be compromised or internationalised.

Haji-Babaei said the ongoing discussions in parliament have insisted on the value of negotiations with the global powers to clear doubts about Iran’s nuclear programme.

He also called upon the western powers to reorient their approach toward the Islamic country and hold talks in a spirit of true friendship.

Parliament speaker Ali Larijani, who had led for years Iran’s negotiations with the West over the nuclear issue, had asked the western powers to play a win-win game in which both sides gain.

“We think you (the West) have thus far been after playing a win-loss game, while it would be better for you to enter a win-win game, in which case both sides would gain its fruits,” Larijani told an academic gathering Wednesday.
