Mumbai : Indian equity markets closed with deep cuts Thursday, a day after making a partial recovery.
The 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, opened at 13,530.68 points and touched an intra-day low of 12,934.92 before closing at 13,094.11 points. It went down by 570.15 points or 4.18 percent compared to its closing figure Wednesday.
The S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange, which opened at 4,094.60 points, closed at 3,925.75. It went down by 167.60 points or 4.09 percent from its previous close.
