Ahmedabad : Two students of Ashramji Gurukul, whose bodies were found behind the school premises here Sunday, died due to drowning, an autopsy report has said.
The medical report was released Sunday night, hours after the decomposed and disfigured bodies of Dipesh Vaghela, 10, and Abhishek Vaghela, 11, were found near Motera stadium. The police said one of the bodies was mauled by some animals.
The boys, said to be cousins, were missing from the ashram since Thursday night.
According to the police, a report was lodged at the Adalaj police station Friday.
Parents of the deceased boys suspect foul play even as the police and the ashram authorities said the case was puzzling and nothing could be concluded yet.
“We suspect foul play in the entire matter. How come they could go out in the night despite security arrangements on the campus?” said Dipesh’s father Praful Vaghela.
“Our children had no bad habits. Police officials told us that they had Rs.1,100 in their pockets. Where did the money come from? We never gave them the money,” he said.
Vivek Bharti, an official of the ashram, said: “Our security is very strict. Even parents have to go through formalities to meet their wards. How they managed to leave the ashram is a puzzle to us.”
Inspector of the Sabarmati police station K.B. Jhala said: “There are many unanswered questions. No conclusion can be drawn now.”
The boys had enrolled in the ashram a month ago in classes 5 and 6.
