G8 agree on U.N. sanctions on Zimbabwe

Toyako, Japan : G8 leaders meeting in Japan on Tuesday have agreed to seek U.N. sanctions against Zimbabwe, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Tuesday.

“The need and the urgency was indicated for sanctions at the U.N. Security Council,” Berlusconi said. “Given that even Russia decided to go ahead, it seemed to me important to join in, voting unanimously,” he was quoted as saying by Reuters.
