In a statement, the council said that given the current threats faced by EU citizens and the apprehension of many terrorist in EU countries, especially the UK, Germany and Spain, the council was urging counter-terrorism forces in the EU to cooperate with each other and with the world community.

It also urged member countries and the European Commission to take positive steps to exchange any kind of intelligence that could be used by terrorists and armed groups in order to root out this phenomenon.

The statement called on member countries to introduce new approaches to wipe out terrorism and unify EU counter-terrorism institutions’ efforts.

Expanding surveillance and apprehension operations of terrorists and armed groups is a must to prevent future attacks in the EU.
