The delegation presented to him a memorandum which demanded immediate redress of pressing Muslims’ problems.

The memorandum says the communal riot erupted in the sensitive city of Madhya Pradesh, Indore, and Muslims had to suffer loss of lives and financial assets once again because of indolence of administration and partisan behavior of police.

Although media reported only seven deaths but unofficial reports confirm much more killings. It appears that the communal forces want to make life difficult for Muslims by converting BJP-ruled state into ‘laboratory of Hindutva’ on the pattern of Gujarat.

The memorandum demands the government to pay adequate compensation to the riot affected persons, provide government employment to at least one relative of those killed in the riot, stop one-sided arrests of the members of minority community, release the detained innocents immediately, and punish real culprits.

The Home Minister assured that the riot victims will be given adequate compensation.

He assured the delegation with reference to other demands that his ministry will go into the report of the riot at the earliest and will make all efforts to ensure that nothing unjust is done with anyone.

The delegation also raised the issue of harassment of Muslims on the pretext of terrorism.
