Ramallah (Palestine) : US presidential candidate Barack Obama will visit the Palestinian territories this month and will meet President Mahmoud Abbas, a Palestinian official said Monday.
The US senator will arrive in the region July 23, according to the official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
“This visit reflects Obama’s interest in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since it is the core of tension in the Middle East,” the official said.
“It also proves that all American parties are interested in the Palestinian cause and in making peace in the region.”
According to Obama’s electoral campaign, the tour will also include visits to Israel, Jordan, France, Germany and Britain.
