Palestinian media quoted on Tuesday the sources as saying that the Quartet representative had “received a threat” before arrival to Gaza.

The sources did not give any information on the nature of the threat.

Blair canceled a visit to north Gaza in which he was scheduled to visit several projects of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), including schools and a sewage project.

He did not have any plans to visit Hamas officials in the strip.

Hamas had announced that it put security plans to ensure Blair’s safety during his visit and had accused Israel of putting pressures to cancel the visit to prevent Blair from seeing and reporting the disaster caused by the Israeli siege on Gaza.

Director of UNRWA Operations in Gaza John Ging told reporters it is expected that a new timing for the visit would be announced at a later point in time.
