Shimla : Himachal Pradesh Governor, Justice Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje, who was the first person since 1981 to complete a full term in office, was given a warm send-off Tuesday at a function held in Barnes Court (Raj Bhawan) here.
The new governor, Prabha Rau, is likely to assume charge July 19.
Kokje assumed charge as the 21st governor of Himachal Pradesh May 8, 2003.
He created a record of sorts by completing his five-year term in Barnes Court, considered a “jinxed bungalow”.
Since the year 1981, 21 governors had assumed charge but none of them, except Kokje, completed their full term in office.
The governor’s residence was shifted to Barnes Court after Peterhoff Estate, the previous Raj Bhawan, was gutted in a fire in 1981.
