New Delhi : India’s Davis Cupper Harsh Mankad crashed out of the LTA Manchester Trophy Challenger, losing in straight sets to Czech qualifier Tomas Cakl, 0-6, 3-6.
Mankad , who won the grass court event here in 2006, was mowed down by Cakl mercilessly.
Mankad, however, kept his hopes alive in the doubles event when he and his compatriot Ashutosh Singh routed Russian Pavel Chekhov and Niels Desein of Belgium 6-3,6-2 in the opening round.
The fourth seeded Indian pair next meet the winners of the match between Frenchmen Thomas Oger and Pierrick Ysern and Czech pair Pavel Snobel and Jan Vacek.
