IRCTC renovated the existing Rail Yatri Niwas jointly with Roots Corp Ltd (RCL), which runs a chain of budget hotels in the country, and renamed it.

RCL has invested about Rs.105 billion ($2.5 billion) to renovate the hotel.

RCL CEO Prabhat Pani said: “The budget hotels have huge potential for the future growth as the demand is highest in this section. We are looking forward to add more such hotel rooms in view of the huge hotel room requirements for the upcoming commonwealth Games.”

RLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Indian Hotels Co Ltd, is already running 13 budget hotels in the country and 18 more are under construction.

“We are also coming up with the concept of mall hotels in Ludhiana and Hyderabad, which will be operational in the next two to three months,” he said.

The rooms will be offered at a price of Rs.1,199 and Rs.999 per room per night. This hotel will also have four-bedded rooms where each bed will be offered at Rs.250 for a night.
