Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani is hosting dinner in Delhi Saturday for Lok Sabha members of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), ahead of the confidence vote.

“Nobody among the BJP in Chhattisgarh can dare to go against the party line and everyone will surely vote against the confidence motion. But whoever attends Advani-ji’s dinner party will sacrifice Rs.25 crore (Rs.250 million),” a BJP tribal MP told IANS at Raipur’s Mana Airport before boarding a Delhi-bound plane.

“Whoever attends the dinner will have to sacrifice the Rs.25 crore,” the parliamentarian said laughing, referring to media reports that the Congress has been offering this amount to lure MPs to vote in favour of the UPA government.

BJP sources here said that senior state level organisational leaders have been instructed by the party central leadership to be in constant touch with the Lok Sabha MPs, especially when they meet any “stranger”.

The BJP has nine MPs from the state while the Congress has two.

The state BJP is extra cautious about its MPs as it is yet to recover from the shock of 12 party MLAs quitting in December 2001 to join the Congress.
