New Delhi : India’s political crisis is the ruling coalition’s own making and the Manmohan Singh government has been in the intensive care unit (ICU) for a long time, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani said Sunday.
“It is true that Manmohan Singh’s government has plunged into a deep crisis – a crisis that is its own making,” Advani told a gathering of senior citizens at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci).
“The government has been in ICU (intensive care unit) for a long time now. Whether it will survive or not will be known on the night of July 22,” the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha added.
Advani’s remarks come a day ahead of the start of a two-day parliament session that will see a trust vote to decide the future of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government over the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal.
Advani told the audience that some of them may be disappointed that he did not make a political speech despite the political turmoil.
“I have deliberately kept politics out of my speech because whatever I have to say about the UPA government and its misrule I shall do so tomorrow in parliament,” he said.
