Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh): The United Muslim Action Committee on 26th July appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to curb the practice of the police raiding madrasas and mosques seeking information on any non-local person.

A delegation of the organization led by its convener Moulana Mohd. Hameeduddin Aquil Hussami called on the chief minister.

The chief minister has reportedly assured the leaders that he will convene a meeting of senior police officers within two days and give them necessary instructions.

The delegation apprised the chief minister of the reports the organization has been receiving from districts, particularly Guntur and Prakasam, where police have allegedly been raiding madrasas and mosques to seek information about any non-local person.

The police ask the madrasa authorities to report to the nearest police station. The delegation told the chief minister that such raids have generated ill-will among Muslims against the police.
