Pakistan, USA reiterate commitment to jointly fight against terrorism, extremism

Islamabad : Pakistan and USA have reiterated their commitments to fight together against terrorism and extremism and work for the strengthening democracy.

At a joint news conference in Washington on Monday, after one and a half hour meeting at Oval Office, the US President George W Bush assured Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani that his country would continue its full support to the promotion of democracy and security of Pakistan.

Yousaf Raza Gilani said that majority of Pakistanis are patriotic and a handful of extremists are destabilizing the situation.

We will continue to work the strengthening of democracy and world peace, Gilani said.

US President George Bush said that the fruits of economic prosperity should reach to the masses. He said the extremists are posting threat to both Pakistan and USA and we have to deal with them together as they are very dangerous people. He also stressed the need that both Afghanistan and Pakistan should work together. He aid we want to see a strong Pakistan and would also continue its support for the promotion of democracy in Afghanistan .

He said we appreciate Prime Minister Gillani’s view point against terrorism and extremism. He said the prime Minister is well aware about terrorism.

Yousaf Raza Gilani said that US President showed his great interest to help Pakistan in different spheres. He said both Pakistan and US enjoy warm and close relations for the last sixty years.

He said both countries believe in independence and sovereignty of each other and want to strengthen our relations further.

Prime Minister Gilani said that we will jointly fight against extremism and terrorism as these forces are destabilizing the world.

He said they lost their leader Benazir Bhutto.

He assured the US that except a handful of people, majority of people living in tribal areas are patriotic.
