Hindi writer attacked in Bihar

Patna : Eminent Hindi writer Shaival, who scripted Prakash Jha’s National Award winning film “Daamul”, was Tuesday allegedly attacked by some unidentified people at his home in Bihar’s Gaya district, the police said.

The attackers also threatened to kill Shaival, in his 50s, according to the police.

Shaival told IANS: “They (assailants) forcibly entered into my house, attacked and beat me up and also threatened to kill (me).”

Shaival shot to fame after writing Prakash Jha’s “Daamul” that received National Film award.

According to Shaival, the accused had been creating “trouble for me and my family for a long time over one or another issue”. “The latest attack was an outcome of my objection that their goat had entered in my house.”

A case has been lodged and the police officials said that investigations have begun and accused would be arrested soon.

Shaival has authored several books and has been regularly writing for various Hindi magazines.
