Kolkata : The city police were placed on high alert after two TV news channels Tuesday evening received an email threatening serial bombings in the metropolis at 10 p.m. Tuesday.
According to a channel office here, the email said blasts would target locations like Park Circus, Park Street, Salt Lake City Centre, Science City, Salt Lake Tank No. 1 and 4, Alipore, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital and the Calcutta High Court.
“A threat mail has been received by the two TV channels’ offices. We are verifying all details mentioned in the mail and keeping a close watch on all important locations,” Kolkata Police deputy commissioner (detective department) Jawed Shamim told IANS.
Harshavardhan Neotia, chairman of Ambuja Realty that owns the Salt Lake City Centre, said: “It’s shocking. I pray nothing like that happens.”
