Seven of family shot dead in Uttar Pradesh

By IANS,

Lucknow : Seven members of a family, including three children, were shot dead while they slept in an Uttar Pradesh village early Tuesday, police said.

The brutal killings took place at around 2 a.m. in Bararai village in Bulandshahr district. Police said personal enmity seemed to be the motive. Bararai comes under Aurangabad police station.

“The family head, Sukhveer Singh, was a well-to do farmer and it appears that the entire family was shot while they were sleeping,” inspector Balvir Singh of Aurangabad police station told IANS over telephone.

The victims include Sukhveer, his wife Suryabala, and his sons Surya Pratap and Abhishek.

“Two other women of the family and a two-year-old boy are also amongst the dead,” Singh said.

No valuables were found missing from the house and personal enmity is suspected to be the motive of the murders, he added.

“We have gathered information about some possible suspects and hope to solve the case soon,” Singh said.
