Gandhinagar : Gujarat’s main opposition Congress Wednesday demanded a special assembly session to discuss the law and order situation in the state after the serial bombings in Ahmedabad and recovery of 23 bombs in Surat.
The Congress Legislative Party at a meeting here, presided over by Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil, passed four resolutions.
It condemned the terror attacks and demanded a special assembly session. It also condoled the deaths and expressed grief over injuries to several people.
As many as 51 pople died and at least 200 were injured in 21 synchronised blasts in Ahmedabad Saturday evening.
A resolution said the Congress party extended its full cooperation to the state government in the fight against terrorism. It also called for keeping party affiliations aside in fight against terror.
It commended the people of Ahmedabad for maintaining peace, unity and showing patience despite the provocative and heinous act. The party also resolved to ask its legislators to donate blood.
Gujarat Congress president Siddharth Patel, Congress general secretary Sudhakar Reddy, MP Pravin Rashtrapal, state unit working presidents Tushar Chaudhary and Kunwarji Bavaria, party whip Jagdish Thakor and several legislators attended the meet.
