Shimla : A mock bomb defuse drill was conducted at the main bus stand here Wednesday night in the wake of last week’s serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, police said.
“The exercise was undertaken to check the preparedness and response of the police control room, bomb defusal squad and other personnel,” Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) S.R. Mardi told IANS.
He said that precautionary measures were being taken on the Manali-Leh highway and vigilance had been intensified along the Chamba border with Jammu and Kashmir.
Multiple blasts in India’s IT hub of Bangalore killed one on Friday, followed by 21 synchronised blasts in Ahmedabad Saturday in which at least 51 people were killed and more than 200 injured.
Like Karnataka and Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh is also ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and therefore considered a possible terror target.
