Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and France have agreed to further promote bilateral trade and investment, WAM news agency reported Monday.
UAE Foreign Trade Minister Sheikha Lubna al-Qassimi and French parliamentarian and former minister of social affairs and integration Jean-Louis Bianco during a meeting Sunday expressed their keenness to deepen bilateral relations and boost trade and investment.
Bianco is leading a delegation of the French National Assembly to the UAE.
Al-Qassimi told reporters after the meeting that the Arab country has attracted more than $19 billion foreign investment in 2006.
Bilateral trade between UAE and France has witnessed rapid growth touching $10.9 billion in 2006 up from $6.6 billion in 2001, Bianco told reporters.
UAE’s major imports from France include transport equipment, machines, chemical products, food stuff, rubber and plastics.
