Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have arrested three suspected militants of Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from them at village Sua No 1 on Jammu-Poonch road, this morning.
Acting on specific information received from Military Intelligence (MI) about transportation of arms consignment from Rajouri to Punjab by some Sikh youth, a team of special operation group of J&K Police headed by SDPO Akhnoor Shri Atul Sharma laid an ambush with the association of Army laid a naka at village Sua No 1 in Akhnoor on Jammu-Poonch road and intercepts an Indica Car (CH03E/0674) at around 5.30 AM this morning.
On searching the car three Sikh youth were arrested by the police, they were taken to some unknown place for questioning.
They have been identified as Malkit Singh (37), son of Jabinder Singh, Surjit Singh son of Gurbachan Singh, (35) Harbajan Singh (33) son of Romesh Singh all from Barnala district of Punjab.
One AK-47 riffle with two magazines besides five (5) Chinese made pistols including 93 AK rounds and 93 pistol rounds from their possession was also recovered from the car.
Well informed sources told News Agency of Kashmir that the trio were actually smugglers and were supplying arms to militants of Punjab after transporting it from Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The arrested militants are said to be the members of Baber Khalsa militant group of Punjab and close aides of Sikh militant commander Neeta of Amritsar, sources claimed.
However, Officials of Jammu and Kashmir Police said that it would be premature to say something about their motive but from the consignment which belongs to the KZF, the arrested persons are either KZF militants or Baber Khalsa. The motive behind carrying arms consignment is being ascertained.
Police has registered a case FIR No. 76/08 U/S 120-B, 121/121-B, 122 RPC and 7/25 Arms Act at PS Kanachak (NAK)
