Mumbai : At least two people were injured when a crude bomb planted on a cycle exploded in the basement car park of a cinema hall in Thane near here Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The explosion took place at around 4.10 p.m., police said, adding that top officials had rushed to the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Thane) B.S. Shinde told IANS: “I have received the information that the explosives were planted on a cycle.”
Police said the auditorium of the Gadkari Theatre in an upscale area of Thane, Mumbai’s satellite town, was evacuated within minutes after the explosion.
The injured were admitted to the Thane Civil Hospital.
On Sunday, a live bomb was defused from another cinema hall, located in another satellite town, Nerul, hours before the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket final match.
