India agrees to provide advance information to Pakistan on discharge of river water: foreign office

Islamabad : Pakistan Thursday said India would provide advance information of discharge of river water from its part three times daily from July first to the tenth of October that would help control floods in Pakistan.

“Pakistan’s delegation will visit site of Bughliar dam and see the implementation of the decision of the neutral experts,” said the Foreign Office Spokesman Muhammad Sadiq in his weekly briefing.

Replying to a question, he said that process to request the United Nations for a thorough probe into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto is underway and hoped that formal request in this regard would be communicated to the UN shortly.

He said Pakistan Air Force would be receiving F-16 fighters under a different arrangement as non-NATO ally then the regular agreement with the United States.

The spokesman replying to a question regarding shifting of embassies in the diplomatic enclave said the CDA and Foreign Office are working to develop a land of 784 acres in the Diplomatic Enclave to provide space for setting up of embassies there with a view to ensure their security.

Regarding political dialogue in the Tribal Areas he said these are not being held with terrorist groups or Al-Qaeda persons but with different tribes with a view to seek their help for accelerating socio-economic development in the area and bring peace.

He said that a Danish delegation has arrived in Islamabad to assess the damages to its embassy in result of recent bomb explosion.

The spokesman said the visit is not aimed at investigating the incident but the members would meet the security people besides the heirs of those who have been killed in the incident to condole their demise.
