In a press release Thursday, Al-Saqer stressed the importance of complying with the peace agreement signed between the different Sudanese groups in 2005, ending two decades of civil war in Africa.

He pointed out that an AIP delegation had visited the Darfur region and met all active forces there.

Al-Saqer called on the Somali government and the opposition to continue their meetings, sponsored by the United Nations with mediation by Djibouti.

He welcomed the deployment of international peace forces in Somalia that would pave way for national conciliation.
