Raipur : A probe panel set up by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has confirmed that a girl who topped the class 12 exam this year had been helped by “a planned forgery and racket”.
The probe team in its 420-page report found 13 people, including two school principals and seven teachers, guilty of forgery and involvement in a conspiracy.
The board had announced class 12 exam results May 26. However, the next day it deleted the name of the topper, Porra Bai, from the merit list and alleged she had achieved the top slot among 190,567 students through a well-managed forgery.
The board then formed the probe panel under its deputy secretary P.K. Pandey.
“As the racket has now become absolutely clear, the school education department will hand over the case to police for action,” a top CGBSE source told IANS Saturday.
The probe panel submitted its report to the board chairman here Friday after visiting to the exam centre in Janjgir district where Porra Bai had appeared for her exams.
The panel also met Porra Bai and found a total of 12 people, besides the girl, involved in the racket included two principals, seven teachers and three clerks – all of government-run schools.
Porra Bai, who hails from a Scheduled Caste community and was a student of the Birra Government School, Janjgir, had secured 484 marks out of 500 with not a single mistake detected in any of her answer sheets. It is now established that they were written by experts outside the exam centres.
The forgery came to light when CGBSE chairman B.K.S. Ray went through the answer sheets of the 10 toppers and found that the serial numbers of the answer sheets allotted to Porra Bai at the exam centre did not match those of the answer sheets assessed.
The probe panel report said the girl was even not eligible to appear in the class 12 board exam.
