Ramallah : The Israeli Army attacked the Gaza Strip eastern sector on Friday, killing one Hamas militant, Palestinian paramedics reported.
The Israeli tanks and ground troops clashed with Hamas near the borderline, where the Palestinian militant was shot by a sniper.
Shortly before the ground incursion, 15 Palestinians – some Hamas militants, others civilians – were wounded in a second aerial attack on a Hamas base in northern Gaza later Friday, doctors said.
The missiles destroyed a building, witnesses said.
The latest flareup in violence began Thursday when a Hamas mortar killed an Israeli and injured four others in southern Israel. Tel Aviv inmediately relataliated by sending its aircraft, which killed a 6-year-old Palestinian girl.
At least 491 people, most of them Palestinians, have died since peace talks between Israel and the Palestine government were resumed last November.
