Pakistan PM Gilani embarks on 3-day visit to Saudi Arabia

Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday embarked on three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia for talks with the Saudi leadership, officials said.

“This is Mr Gilani’s first official as Prime Minister to any country after resuming office in March,” Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said.

The Prime Minister will hold wide ranging talks with King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz during his stay in the Kingdom.

The talks would focus on further strengthening the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, the Foreign office said.

The Prime Minister will also address the Pakistani community in Jeddah.

The Prime Minister told reporters before his departure that his talks will focus on further strengthening bilateral ties.

He said he will also seek Saudi investment in Pakistan and ways to promote bilateral trade.

He added that both the countries enjoy special relations which are rooted in common faith, mutual trust, common understanding.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Law Minister Farooq H. Naek, Food Minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal and Housing Minister Rehmat Kakar are accompanying the Prime Minister.
