Ramallah : Israel has imposed a complete closure on the Palestinian territories starting from Sunday until Monday’s night, Israeli radio reported on Sunday.
Israeli Army decided to seal off Gaza Strip and the West Bank due to the Shavuot holiday, a Jewish holiday marking the giving of the Torah.
The new decision banned the Palestinian people from entering Israel, except for emergency cases, where the security measures will be tightened on checkpoints and demarcation lines to prevent possible attacks against Israeli targets, according to the radio.
The Palestinian territories have been under an on-and-off siege since start of “al-Aqsa Intifada” in 2000. Since then, the Israelis have manned more than 550 checkpoints in the West Bank.
