Top defence commanders meet to discuss joint warfare

New Delhi : The commanders of the Indian armed forces and the key officials of the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) will meet here Tuesday to fine-tune the joint warfare doctrine formulated in 2006.

The Unified Commanders’ Conference is being convened to achieve adequate coordination level among the army, navy and air force, said a defence official.

“Defence Minister A.K. Antony will inaugurate the tri-service conference,” the official said.

Besides the joint warfare doctrine, the issue of increasing infiltration bids in Jammu and Kashmir will also come up for discussion.

“Ahead of Antony’s visit to the Kashmir Valley, the ground situation will be assessed,” the official said.
