AMU expands its lap for madrasa graduates

Aligarh: In a significant move to bring madrasa graduates to mainstream education system for further education, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has accredited several courses conducted by various madrasas across the country.

According to a communiqué issued by AMU Registrar Office, the degree of “Alim” from Jamia Misbahul Uloom (Siddharth Nagar, UP) and the degree of “Alim” from Darul Uloom Faizur Rasool (Siddharth Nagar) will be accepted as equivalent to 12th class standard. The madrasa students with that degree can seek admission to B.A. (Arabic, Islamic Studies). The degrees of “Alim” and “Fazil” from Darul Uloom Ali Mian (Basti, UP) have also been accepted as equivalent to 12th standard and B.A. respectively. Students with those degrees can seek admission to B.A. and M.A. (Arabic, Islamic Studies and Theology).

Besides, the degree awarded by Al Jamia Al Islamiya (Santhapuram, Malappuram) to its students of Principles of Religion course has been accepted as equivalent to B.A. and the students possessing this degree will be eligible for admission to Master of Theology (Sunni). The degree of Fazilat from Kulliyyah Fatimah Zaharah Al-Islamiah (Mau, UP) has been accepted as equivalent to 12th standard passing which one can seek admission to B.A. (Arabic, Islamic Studies).

A madrasa from Bihar has also been recognized by AMU. “Alimiyat” from Jamia Islamia (Muzaffarpur) is deemed equivalent to 12th standard that entitles one to admission to B.A. (Arabic, Islamic Studies). These accreditations are in addition to the courses of some big madrasas AMU has long recognized. Such madrasas include Darul Uloom Deoband, Nadwatul Ulama and Jamiatul Falah. Following table contains the list of new accreditation of certificates and degrees of some madrasas.
