Hyderabad : In a bid to generate job opportunities in villages, infrastructure major GMR Group Thursday launched a security services training academy in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.

The academy has come up on a 100-acre plot at Kodikonda on the Bangalore-Hyderabad national highway with an initial investment of Rs.350 million.

The academy was inaugurated by GMR Group chairman G.M. Rao at Kodikonda.

The academy will be run by Bangalore-based Raxa Security Services, formed by GMR Group to provide consultancy services for integrated security solutions for business and industrial establishments, said a GMR statement here.

Security service is a sunrise industry in the country and is valued at around Rs.45 billion.

“Raxa Security Services will give preference to local villagers for employment opportunities. The group’s corporate social responsibility arm, GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, will also undertake identified welfare projects in the surrounding villages,” said Rao.
