Raliway team visits coach factory site in Kerala

Palakkad (Kerala) : A team of officials from the Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) Thursday visited the land identified by the state government for setting up of a railway coach factory in Palakkad district of Kerala.

The four-member team was led by RITES group manager S.B. Malik. The government has identified 1,028 acres of land for the project at Kanjikode, around 160 km north of Kochi, the commercial hub of Kerala.

State’s nodal officer for the project Usha Titus accompanied the RITES team.

After the inspection, Malik said the team would send a detailed report on the site to the railway ministry.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad had announced the decision to set up a coach factory in the state in the 2008-2009 railway budget.
