New Delhi : Two youngsters have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old mentally challenged boy to extort Rs.50,000 from his father in northeast Delhi, police said Thursday.
Rahul, 20, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested from North Ghonda area for kidnapping Dipesh from near his Bhajanpura home Wednesday evening.
Police said the two and their third associate, identified as Munna, picked up Dipesh, mentally challenged and dumb, to demand a ransom of Rs.50,000 from the victim’s father Anjum Kumar, who is a cable TV operator.
“Anjum received a call on his mobile phone that his son was kidnapped and the abductors demanded ransom for the boy’s safe release. They told him that the ransom was to be delivered at 5th Pushta, Near Gamri Road,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast Delhi) Jaspal Singh.
“A raid was conducted and the boy was rescued. We are looking for Munna,” he added.
