Pyongyang : The Democratic People’s Republicof Korea (DPRK) has agreed to reinvestigate the abduction of Japanese and cooperate in resolving the issue, the official KCNA news agency said Friday.
The DPRK will cooperate in the efforts to settle the issue with regard to those related to the Japanese plane Yodo, the news agency said.
In 1970, several Japanese radicals hijacked the Japan Airlines passenger jet to Pyongyang.
The announcement came after two days of working-level talks on the normalization of Pyongyang-Tokyo relations held in Beijing earlier this week.
Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura said Friday that Japan agreed to lift parts of its sanctions against the DPRK, allowing mutual visits by people of the two countries, chartered flights, and port calls by DPRK ships.
