Eight killed in Maharashtra accident

Nagpur : Eight people were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck in Maharashtra’s Akola district.

The accident took place Thursday when two closely related families were returning to Nagpur in a hired Tata Sumo from a pilgrimage of major shrines in Maharashtra, a family member of the dead told IANS.

The family of Hanumant Ingle, a school teacher, comprising his wife Nalini, and three daughters Soni, Rohini and Ashwini were killed. Nalini’s sister Veena Shende and her husband Govind besides the driver Ravi Parate died in the accident near Murtizapur, about 250 km from here.

Govind’s daughter Mrinal, 20, is admitted to a private hospital in Akola while her elder brother Swapnil and the dead driver’s friend Ravindra Jasoos sustained minor injuries, the family member said.
