Militants kill four border roads personnel in Jammu

Jammu : Four personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), including commanding officer Lt. Col Ajay Verma, were killed in an ambush by suspected militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district Friday evening, defence officials said.

The team was on his way to Sinthan Pass, about 250 km northeast of Jammu, on a road inspection when their vehicle was ambushed by militants in a remote, mountainous area. They militants also fired indiscriminately and four people were killed, defence spokesman Lt Col S.D. Goswami said here.

The victims have been identified as commanding officer of 118 Road Construction Company Lt Col Ajay Verma, his second-in-charge S.P Sharma and two soldiers of the 155 territorial army, he said.

Goswami added: “The militants escaped after the attack and we have launched a major search operation to catch them.”
