Srinagar : Six people were injured when a grenade exploded in the middle of a bustling market in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla town Friday, when shops and offices opened after a four-day shutdown against fuel prices.

According to the police, separatist militants tossed a grenade that exploded near the police station in Baramulla, about 55 km from here. The incident took place in the afternoon when the area was thronged by shoppers and commuters as life came back to normal after four days.

“Six civilians were wounded in the explosion and all of them were immediately evacuated to the district hospital where four of the injured were discharged after first aid. None of the injured sustained any critical injuries,” Sheikh Junaid, additional superintendent of police (Baramulla), told IANS.
