A resolution passed at the DMK’s womens’ meet here, urged the central government “to first pass a law on this”.

After that, “all the parties can together consider and decide if there can be reservation within reservation”, the resolution said.

The reference was to several UPA allies that want reservation for weaker sections of the society incorporated in the women’s reservation bill.

DMK Rajya Sabha member Vasanthi Stanley urged Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to implement a one-third reservation for women in the intra-party polls.

Another resolution urged the central government to lower the price of LPG, saying, “The hike in LPG price had great adverse impact on the lives of poor and middle class women”.

A third resolution supported the suggestion to change the name of the Sethusamudram canal project to Sethuram canal project.
