“The worldwide crisis is rising significantly, but nothing has happened at a global institutional level,” said Yashwant Sinha, leader of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party and former foreign minister, as the 17th World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia opened here.

Asian countries should work together immediately to make sure a global institution responding to the global crisis is established, he said.

This is one of things that the Asian countries could do together, he added.

The 17th WEF on East Asia began at Shangri-La Hotel with some 300 delegations from business, politics, and the media circles from more than 25 countries gathering to discuss an Asian response to the mounting crises like energy and food securities and financial uncertainties.
