Agra: False accusations of terrorism against Muslims are not harming Muslims as much as it is damaging the country, said Maulana Arshad Madani, former president of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind while speaking at an anti-terrorism conference here on 16th June.
Shedding light on the history of Islamic scholars, Maulana Arshad Madani said the war of independence in 1857 was started by a simple and underprivileged Islamic scholar Maulana Abdul Aziz Muhaddis-e-Dehlvi and it was taken to its climax by Maulana Syed Ahmad Shaheed and Maulana Ismail Shaheed.
In his welcome speech, the president of Jamiat Ulama Agra, Maulana Kalimuddin Qasimi said peace is a primary need of the world and Islam is such a religion that peace and security is implicit in its name itself.
In his keynote address, the chief guest Syed M. A. Kazimi, ex-advocate general of Uttar Pradesh, emphasized that people should be told about the correct definition of terrorism, its background and real terrorists through the media. He said no religion can be held responsible for the wrongs of its believers but the way government institutions are targeting Muslims on pretext of terrorism on a large scale is surely shameful and distressing.
