Madhya Pradesh to withdraw cases against tribals

Bhopal : The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to withdraw more than 200,000 police cases against tribals, barring those relating to serious crimes, an official statement said Tuesday.

The decision was been taken at a meeting of the tribal department held Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who was informed that some 225,000 minor cases were pending against tribals.

“The chief minister immediately directed the officers concerned to withdraw all minor cases against tribal people except crimes of serious nature and crimes pertaining to non-tribals. He also asked them to return the articles seized from tribal people as recovery,” the statement said.
