Three Minority status universities proposed

New Delhi: An expert committee of Maulana Azad Education Foundation have proposed opening of three universities for minorities. Ajmer, Kishanganj, and Bangalore are the locations selected for the three universities.

Minority Affairs ministry have moved ahead with this proposal after getting a green light from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Central Government is going to announce a special package of Rs. 2500 crores to fund these universities. Khwaja Gharib Nawaz University of Professional, Technical and Vocational Education will be setup in Ajmer (Rajasthan) at a cost of Rs. 750 crores.

Tipu Sultan University of Science and Technology in Bangalore will also cost Rs. 750 crores.

Kishanganj (Bihar) will have Rafi Ahmed Kidwai University of Health and Sciences at a cost of Rs. 1000 crores. This university will also have an attached hospital.

The proposed universities will be established by an act of the parliament but these will be designated as minority institutions.
