Karnal (Haryana) : Close on the heels of a young woman committing suicide inside the Haryana police headquarters alleging rape by two police personnel, a youth in this district has committed suicide blaming the state police for his extreme step.
Ravinder Kumar, 28, from a village near Kurukshetra town, committed suicide Tuesday claiming that he was being falsely implicated by the police in a criminal case.
He and two others were blamed by the police for being involved in the disappearance of a girl from their village earlier June.
Kumar consumed a poisonous pesticide to end his life.
“I have been falsely named in a criminal case and I am being subjected to constant torture in the police station. I am left with no other option. If my death does not satisfy you then you can go ahead and kill my entire family and hang my infant son,” Kumar wrote in his 12-page suicide note addressed to the Karnal district police chief.
He said that he and two others were called to the police station and mercilessly beaten.
Senior district police officers have ordered a probe into the suicide case.
Earlier, Sarita committed suicide in the office of Haryana’s additional director general of police (ADGP) V.B. Singh June 9. She took the extreme step as she was frustrated with police inaction against two policemen, who she alleged had raped her.
