A vacation bench of Justices Arijit Pasayat and G.S. Singhvi directed the government to file its affidavit before July 7. The court will also examine the validity of the 2021 Master Plan for Delhi.

The bench passed the direction after senior counsel Ranjit Kumar made a special mention before it.

Ranjit Kumar complained to the bench that the urban development ministry and the Delhi government had Monday issued notifications in national dailies for regularising the unauthorised colonies dotting various parts of the capital.

According to Kumar, the government had resorted to the hasty action in regularising these colonies without making provisions for adequate infrastructural facilities.

The court had earlier stated that it would give its approval for the Delhi Master Plan 2021 only if the government was in a position to provide the requisite infrastructure.
