Four bodies still lying on LoC

By IANS,

Jammu : The bodies of four soldiers killed on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir have not yet been picked up by the Indian and Pakistan armies even as Pakistan claimed it had lost four troops in a gun fight with “some miscreants”.

The Indian Army is keeping a watch but has not moved its men to lift the four bodies, presumably of militants, nor has the Pakistani Army done so.

The four were killed Thursday, army sources said. They were unwilling to give any further details about the incident, which is believed to be an infiltration attempt by jihadi groups and the first case in which the militants were trapped in a gun fight by Pakistani soldiers while attempting to return to the Pakistani side after warning fire by Indian troops.

Indian Army sources refused to comment as to why they were sitting tight this time unlike in the past when they would collect the bodies and claim an infiltration bid had been foiled and list the number of militants killed.

This is the first time the Indian Army has not issued any statement so far.

“At the moment, I cannot say anything officially,” an army officer told IANS.

Pakistani Army spokesperson Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas had claimed Thursday that four of its soldiers were killed by “unknown miscreants”. He didn’t provide any details.
