Agra’s teenaged guitarist plays for Guinness record

By IANS,

Agra : A 14-year-old Agra boy, Akash Gupta Sunday began strumming his guitar before hundreds of music lovers at 162-year-old St. Peter’s College in the city of Taj. And he plans to stop only after he has created a new Guinness world record for longest playing the instrument at a live show.

Akash’s bid at marathon non-stop guitar playing to enter the Guinness Book of World Records was lustily cheered and applauded by hundreds of music lovers packing the cultural hall of St. Peter’s College. Last year Akash played guitar non-stop for 52 hours and 48 minutes to get into the Limca Book of Records.

Akash began his feat by singing a Hindi song “Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Data – Man Ka Vishwas Kamzor Ho Na”. (Oh my Lord! Give me strength so that my self-belief is not weakened).

Akash told IANS that he was confident of creating a new world record, for which he said he had practised hard.

The young guitarist will continuously play for at least 50 hours before a jury. A Guinness official from London was expected to reach Agra Sunday night to record and certify the event, should he successfully reach the milestone.
