According to the source, which referred to the Mlada Fronta Dnes newspaper, the date was revealed by two members of the Czech government and diplomats from the Foreign Affairs Ministry that preferred to remain anonymous.

The Czech parliamentary opposition demands the Prime Minister Mirek Topolanekla’s cabinet to hold a referendum on the US radar base, which is rejected by 70 percent of the population and other European countries.

The radar base in the Czech Republic is part of Pentagon’s plan to expand its missile shield system in eastern Europe that includes the deployment of 10 interceptor missiles in Poland.

The daily stated that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to visit Prague in July to sign the accord.

Members of the No to Bases association plan to stage a protest during Rice’s visit to Prague.
