Erode (Tamil Nadu) : As a dozen colleagues watched in horror, a 32-year-old man was buried alive here Sunday when a mud excavator he was operating suddenly sunk into loose earth.
A. Ilayaraja was removing silt from a dam site in Chennimalai, 15 km from here, when the accident took place. His machine was scooping out huge quantities of mud, police sources said.
As the contraption started to sink, he called out for help. But before anyone could react, he went down. Fire services personnel later retrieved the body.
